Last month I had a chance to chat with Brenna Donoghue from Morgen (my favorite Calendar app!), and she had some fantastic questions around time management, where people struggle, what goes in my calendar, and why it's seemingly so hard to stick to daily plans (video, 7:51 mins).
There's also another video from this series where I share a little more candidly my experience of my ADHD as it relates to how I've developed my systems over time to be more energy-friendly, and design a business model that doesn't require me to be "always on":
We talk about why Notion seemed to work for my brain, navigating overwhelm and overcommitment, how sharing my struggles helped me find my audience, discovering ADHD through teaching, hustle culture and productivity influencers, and learning to listen to our energetic needs.
I also shared a few of the quirky ways I use Morgen personally. I think it offers a fantastic way to integrate with your Notion tasks while allowing you to time-block based on task types, or your own energy levels. For me, that's admin and low-effort work in the mornings, and deep work on Wednesdays and most afternoons.
My Morgen Calendar with Notion + RescueTime integration
It's funny to listen these conversations again given that my kitchen renovation starts this week, which means all my usual "routines" pretty much go out the window for a bit, and being "productive" won't look the same for the next few months.
But also, this is something I've been planning for for about 6 months. I knew this would be a chaotic and unpredictable time, so I took on some extra projects earlier in the year so I could give myself lots of flexibility during this time of planned chaos :)
I know I can't/won't be able to anticipate everything that's going to come up during this project, but I've made adjustments so that I can mostly stick to routine maintenance during this time, without worrying about juggling projects or clients and burning myself out in the process.
